While we strive to provide our clients with a full suite of legal services, we know there are times where your budget will not allow you to hire a lawyer to take your case from start to finish. Most lawyers would take an ‘all or nothing’ approach…but not us.

Even if you don’t have the resources to take on dedicated counsel, we believe that should not mean you’re left high and dry. The legal landscape in Canada is complicated, especially if you have no legal background or training. There are times where you’ll simply need a bit of advice, or someone to help review things, and that’s where we can come in.

We are proud to offer what are known today as ‘unbundled legal services’ so that a little bit of help is an affordable option to meet your needs. These include:

• Strategy Sessions – We can meet in a one-off strategy session to review your case and provide strategic advice without becoming the ‘lawyer of record’ (your official legal representative).
• Self Help Strategy Sessions – If you are planning to represent yourself, then we can offer a range of services including strategic legal advice, assistance with drafting, or even representing you in court appearances – so long as we confirm in writing the limits of our working relationship.
• Independent Legal Advice – When you sign an important document like a marriage contract, a shareholder’s agreement or a separation agreement, even if you agree with the document you are still required to seek independent legal advice to protect your interests. We can offer independent counsel to help confirm that you know exactly what you are signing.
• Notary Services – When you need documents notarized or commissioned such as an affidavit, a certified true copy of a passport or birth certificate, a travel letter before your family vacation, a declaration of marital status or other official document, we are here to help.

All of these services must be negotiated with the lawyer in writing ahead of time so that we have a clear record of how we will and will not be able to assist you. If you require legal advice on a budget, though, then one of these options may be right for you.
